Secret Knowledge (Ouija)

The Ouija pointer is a found object. The day was
growing late and frankly, the session was not going
extremely well. This tension coupled with the
sinister oracle/toy led me into a shadowy and dark
approach to this idea.
My first impression was that of it’s sexual
 suggestiveness. The triangular similarities, and the way
one cradles such a pointer with the fingers became a
powerful suggestion in my mind.  Next, the upturned
chin, and the single pearl at the base of the long throat
suggests, perhaps more than it ought.
Finally, the Ouija pointer itself, the intimacy of the
setting, and the overall darkness of the scene complete a
photograph that can be deeply felt at a number of levels
at once. What is it about? The occult, secrecy,
masturbation? Yes, these things and whatever you may
bring to the photograph as well.
