Sand, Soil, And Asphalt
Most of my locations are scouted out ahead of time, but are subject
to changes wrought by the elements, time, and construction. Such is the
case with Sand, Soil, And Asphalt. When living in Battle Creek,
Michigan I was fortunate enough to have a large tract of
undeveloped commercial property behind my apartment. I was
always drawn to a particular area marked by several large bulldozed
piles of dirt from a nearby construction site. I had never
used it though, because the varying shades of
earth didnt give me the contrast that I was looking for in such a
setting. Then, one day I was out with a new model, and among the piles
of dirt was a wonderfully black and shiny pile of fresh asphalt.
It was the perfect touch of contrast for my needs.
It wasnt there the night before, and it disappeared that afternoon.
