Room For Chaos
I am fascinated by a static figure in an
environment of destruction. We live our lives out
in a media culture that is diligent in alerting us
to the perils of existence. All the while we believe that
the terror only happens on TV, or in some far-away
land, to other people. As individuals, we can rarely
make an impact, so we compartmentalize our
perceptions, " everything in my world is okay."
The nightly news does, however, eat away
at our collective resistance, and it is beginning to feel,
once again, like the end is near. I don't know if
it is simply millennial hype, but I am reminded of
the childhood anxieties of the Cold War,
when we were told that the bomb could
drop at any moment. This time, however,
everyone knows that the "Duck and cover" turtles
are lying through their beaks.
Have a nice day!
