Porcelain Goddess

Repo-queen. Post Y2K sex symbol. More of a
Hooker-Model-Actress than a goddess of love. There
has always been a Venus myth, and each age
creates it’s own specific mythos.
In this media driven culture, sex is everywhere,
and it is whatever we want it to be. "Cyber" has
not only become a word, but a verb, and a dirty
one at that. Each subculture has its own customized
sex symbols and rituals. Talk show hosts have cultivated a
presentation of sexuality as lurid as a traffic accident. Some even
explore the sexuality of traffic accidents.
Is my Venus a worthy successor to Botticelli’s?
Of course not.
As a parody, however, she falls short still.
She seems more legitimate than satirical.
Perhaps she is not the Venus, but she certainly could be
a Venus. An ideal to someone. Somewhere.
