In the whole of human reference, there is little more psychologically charged
than the business end of the
female sexual anatomy. It is laden with
euphemistic names, often considered much more obscene names
than the male counterparts.  Nothing evokes more cries of pornography
than a single image of female genitalia. A prominent legal test
of pornography hinges on the "lewdness" of the pubic area's depiction.
On the other hand, it is the source of birth, the central icon of fertility
in the human psyche, and the same radical feminists who march under
the banner of the vagina, are the ones who cry out against it's
depiction in graphic form.  As with all other organs it is practical above all,
yet it is the crux of modesty.  Still, in childbirth the most modest of
women lose all sense of decorum while emergency workers, cops, and
taxi drivers deliver babies in unexpected circumstances and dozens of
medical students and personnel parade through the delivery room.
