La Belle Trepide

I am increasingly concerned with the homogenizing effect of
consumer fashion. Walk through any mall, and you will see
dozens of demographically targeted "individuals",
distinguishable from each other only by the varying logos on
their Abercrombie and Fitch t-shirts.  I see Gap commercials
celebrating the Christmas holiday season, by showing virtually
identical models, dressed in clothing varying only in color,
expressing their creativity by not only dancing and skating in
unison, but actually morphing into one model, and then splitting
again like beautiful amoeba.
Fashion is an industry.
Expression is a personal reflection.
Can it be possible for the fashion business to make money
by encouraging thoughtful and creative self expression?
