I have an old habit of haunting bookstores. They are more of
an abstract temple to me, than they are a succor for addiction.
Being a child of television, I am not a great reader, but I know
that I can find great things there if I look
deeply enough. I am also a lover of the English language,
and tend to be picky with it.
Once, while perusing the shelves, I found a book entitled,
A Sensuous Life
. It was a rich text filled with ideas on
surrounding yourself with aromas, beautiful objects,
stylish fixtures, and generally living artfully. It was as if
Martha Stewart had been reincarnated as a creature of good taste.
To my horror, it had been neatly shelved in the
Relationships (read SEX) section of the bookstore. Instead
of jumping to conclusions, I looked at the catergory
listing, and once again, it had been mislabeled Sexuality by the
publisher, all due to the poor reading of the title. If Edwin Newman
were dead, he would be spinning in his grave.
